Why bloggers blog

This gem of an insight from Gaurav Mishra's post on The Blogging Chain of Being
Why most bloggers blog — blogging allows the world to find out how brilliant we are, individually and collectively.
So, how brilliant am I? I hardly even track pageviews or adsense but doubt I or have much of a reader pool here - so, me thinks that doesn't even qualify me as a 'novice blogger', in the so-called blogging chain of being.

By the way, do read Gaurav's brilliant post on the
The Three Laws of The Long Tail of Pain. This is poignant, witty, creative, funny -- all at the same time. Poignant, if you are suffering through this kind of angst over a broken relationship but kinda funny reading it as an unaffected voyeur :)

By the way, there was a recent book on the subject of the long tail, if you are interested -- The Long Tail - Why the Future of Business is Selling Less of More by Wired magazine editor, Chris Anderson. Also, Amit Varma had reviewed the book a little over a year ago at India Uncut.

If you cannot read the book, do read Chris's original article in Wired, which was the seed for the book. Also updates at Chris's The Long Tail blog.
