New Jersey governor signs toughest U.S. carbon law
New Jersey on Friday became the first U.S. state to mandate sharp greenhouse gas reductions by 2050 in an effort to fight climate change. The Global Warming Response Act mandates economywide cuts of greenhouse gas emissions by about 16 percent by 2020 and 80 percent by 2050 in the country's most densely populated state.
I thought Arnold Schwarzenegger, included in a recent compilation by Time magazine of today's Leaders & Revolutionaries, was forefront in fighting climate change, (including having discussions with Tony Blair even on the latter's last day as British Prime Minister,) but apparently "the state of California, the nation’s trendsetter when it comes to clean air initiatives, is having gas pains — greenhouse gas pains."
Looks like all that talk from Aahnold was just a whole lot of hot air? You are remembered for your memorable dialogs more than your acting... but in the real world, actions speak louder than words, Mr. Terminator (or so one would hope though it is perhaps an exercise in futility to hope for that to be true when it comes to politicians!)
