Music for the day: Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto

Music for the day

After the famed Beethoven Violin Sonata No. 5 yesterday, today we have one of the most famous violin concertos - Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 35. Written in 1878, according the the wikipedia entry, it is considered to be among the most technically difficult works for violin!

In this version from 1958, we have Isaac Stern on the violin with the Philadelphia Orchestra, conducted by Eugene Ormandy

Bonus today:

Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto played on traditional Chinese musical instruments! Quite lovely, I thought.. just a very different pacing and sound to the same tune.
