1. Am I right in my perception that Indians are underrepresented?
2. If so, why is that the case?
They value their money and know the house always wins and so do not enter into a losing game, Steve. As simple as that.

I think the average Indian is scared of gambing professionally. Remember Mummy and Daddy saying "No drinking, no gamlbing and no women" while growing up? However, as most taboo concepts find practice eventually, Poker is no different. It is played in harmless settings by tons of Indians, with non-monetary chips.
I don't see anything wrong with online gambling as long as their are safeguards in place to protect problem gamblers. When you play online, you can play at your own pace, with no noise, no smoking, and lower stakes.
